Chemex

Home brewing coffee guide.How to make a perfect coffee using a Chemex.  Guidleines to timing, equipment needed and dosage.  

RoMo Chemex

You will need

A Chemex, 72g of coffee beans, 1 litre of filtered water (this will serve 4 cups of coffee), kettle, filter paper, grinder, cup

  1. Boil the kettle
  2. Weigh out 72g of beans
  3. Grind the coffee to a coarse grind
  4. Fold the filter paper in half, then in half again and then fold out into a cone
  5. Place the filter paper in the Chemex
  6. Wet filter paper by pouring through hot water (this will soak the paper and warm up the caraf) then discard the water
  7. Pour coffee into the filter and shake to level grounds
  8. Make a crater in the centre of the coffee with a spoon not your fingers
  9. Saturate the grounds with 100ml of water (pouring directly into the centre) wait for 30 seconds
  10. Then continue to pour the rest of the water in.  This should take no longer than 4 minutes in total (if it does you need to grind your coffee finer)
  11. Heat cup 
  12. Pour and enjoy
